 To answer to complexity an enterprise cannot only be “efficient” in calculating means and “well organized” in its activity management. Much more and much more difference is needed. The enterprise has to become intelligent, has to transform itself in a knowledge platform, network and use knowledge to manage complexity, without reducing it. To live and grow in complexity, the enterprise has to become “intelligent”, has to organize itself in order to produce, use and enhance knowledge in a various, variable and indeterminate context. The intelligent enterprise can use complexity growth as a competitive weapon, suggesting new changes, creative answers, original paths to explore the possibilities, effective ways to share and exchange knowledge in the production path. To achieve these performances, the intelligent enterprise starts from two strategic choices: a) concentrate attention and investments on intangible aspects of the production process, moving the enterprise focus from the production of material goods to the creation and enhancement of ideas; b) work in a network, with other manufacturers, specialized in complementary competences and activities, building up production paths, where each one puts his skills into ideas service. |
