Themes: structural funds, technical assistance, international projects, regional development Description: The main objective is to develop a favourable environment for private sector development, enabling job creation for all communities in Kosovo, through the enhancement of the following regional development activities: - The introduction of Regional Economic Development (RED) approach in the five economic areas in Kosovo (Pristina, Mitrovica, Prizren, Gjilan and Peja) to facilitate local economic and employment generation; - To strengthen the 5 economic regions and expand a regional development framework in line with EU practices; - Development of institutional capacity to manage the process of economic development; - Support economic regeneration, job creation and human capital development in the regions. The project is focused on four main activities: • Activity 1: Institutional support aimed at establishing a coherent and harmonized institutional framework to support Regional Economic Development • Activity 2: Capacity-building among all target groups and the beneficiary, with special attention given to developing well performing Regional Development Agencies capable of facilitating the RED strategy development process, coordinating and mobilising resources and investments to implement regional development projects and fostering both productive and effective regional partnerships and relations with national government • Activity 3: EURED Fund management skills and procedures developed among RDA staff, including effective monitoring mechanisms • Activity 4: Knowledge and Communications management established and implemented aimed at increasing the awareness and knowledge among stakeholders and general public on the importance of RED. |
